The Waves Carry My Doubts Out With Them

A Poem inspired by "Down by the Riverside" — a painting by Sharon Stone

There are paintings

you look at, and paintings that look back.

This one had red in the sky and two blues moving

like wind and water — and it reminded me

of the way nature simply goes on:

quietly beautiful,

endlessly forgiving,

asking nothing of us.

The Poem

I want to feel the breeze

that washes the ache away —

every wave clearing my heart

the way a new beginning

would kiss an old wound.

My eyes lose themselves in all that blue,

and for a moment

the past and what's coming

seem to forgive each other.

My mistakes reveal themselves

as experience.

The waves carry my doubts

out with them.

And here, in this moment,

I am more myself

than I ever knew I could be.

Closing

There's a moment at the water

where the past stops arguing

with the future.

Where the salt takes the sting

out of old scars,

and the mistakes you've carried for years

quietly turn into something else —

experience.

You don't come back from the sea

as someone new.

You come back as yourself.

About The Inspiration

Sharon Stone has a way of moving me with every painting she makes.

You can feel the passion in it —

the joy of someone who truly loves painting.

Art this alive doesn't leave you untouched.

Thank you for this beautiful work,

and for the art you keep sharing with the world.
