Love Against All Odds

Inspired by Bridgerton Season 4 — a cinematic poem
about courage, convention and a love that refuses to disappear.
I lost myself
inside your eyes.
From the very first moment,
I felt seen.
Understood.
Through every word you speak,
no one holds my heart
the way you do.
No one sees me
the way you do.
I cannot resist you.
I want to stay —
yet I must run.
And wherever I may go,
I will love you
forever.
One single moment was enough
to know
that you are love.
Never sought,
and yet somehow found
amid masquerade
and spectacle.
Against the passing of time
that seems to turn against us,
with every pulse
of society’s demands,
we are caught —
held still —
commanded to follow
what convention asks of us.
But are we brave enough
to follow the heart?
To choose a life of love?
To leave behind
all that came before?
Is there a victory —
a triumph of the heart —
beyond antiquated ballrooms
and borrowed masks?
When we are alone,
when we step outside
the masquerade,
I know we are meant
for one another.
But where can we flee
when reason
surrenders to love?
I had hoped
I could quiet my longing.
I could defeat
my love for you.
But I would only
lie to myself.
This is a battle
no one ever wins,
because the heart
knows the truth.
It cannot be deceived.
And the truth is:
it is you.
The love
we all secretly hope
to meet one day —
and to surrender to
completely.
But is there
a happy ending
for people like us?
Separated by life’s masquerade,
by worlds that barely touch...
yet never truly meet.
And should those worlds
ever merge,
we would have to leave
society’s dance floor
behind forever
and remain
within a world of our own.
I love you.
I would do anything
just to see you happy.
And yet
I must break
my own heart.
And yet
I cannot promise you more,
because I want
to protect you.
I want to save your world —
even as our fates
and emotions
remain forever entwined
in every moment
our eyes meet.
I found
what I never thought
I had been searching for —
what my heart
had longed for
so deeply:
true,
sincere love.
And still,
I lose
what I have found.
The corset of society
tightens around me
until I can barely breathe.
Life asks us,
in moments
of deepest emotion,
where we will turn.
Will we walk away
with broken hearts?
Will we chain ourselves
to lies
and waste our days
on distraction?
Or are we brave enough
to admit
that new paths begin
where love is seen?
I love you.
And it is not only
about loving you —
it is about wanting
what is best
for you.
I love you,
and my wounded heart
will find no rest
until you are forever
by my side.
To have the blessing
of finding true love
is something
we must honour —
not flee from
out of fear.
I love you.
And this is what
I will never stop
fighting for.
Because the heart prevails.
And love finds its way
if we are brave enough
to follow it.
Unmask yourself.
Because I love you —
beyond all conventions
that live within us.
For me,
there is only you.
You are my world.
And if our worlds collide,
let us be brave enough
to create a new one —
through love.
Because you are love.
Because this is true love.
