Almost

The Pain of “Almost” – A cinematic poem about love, loss
and the unbearable weight of almost—
when something felt like forever, but never truly was.
Inspired by The Immortal Man
What can hurt a human soul
more than anything else?
— The almost.
I almost had
the love of my life.
Until time
broke forever
and left me
with the almost.
I almost believed
I would kiss those cheeks
forever.
I would lose myself
in those eyes
forever.
But forever
is not a time.
(It is a hope
that was never meant
for me.)
I thought
things would last.
Until the almost
found us
and consumed us.
Forever
is an illusion.
It breaks
the moment
time touches it.
I wish
I could turn it back.
Like an old clock
that still
knows how to move.
